PARTICIPATION - I HOPE YOU DANCE

Awaken from a deep slumber, I could hear in the distance the sounds of banging. Where was it coming from? Slowly regaining my senses, I realized the banging was from the downstairs front door. I heard the door crash open, and the sounds of someone rushing up the stairs of my two floor apartment towards my bedroom door. As the door to my room flew open, I heard "Critter" screaming, you have to get up, we need you, you are the 15th man. We can't have a game without you. I was tired, half asleep, cold and hung over...... It was a Saturday morning in February of 1978 at the Lechase apartments in Brockport NY. Upstate NY was experiencing a major winter blizzard. The game was an away game. Any rational person would not be out in these conditions. Driving was impossible. Playing rugby was insanity. I have never regretted, getting up and going. The memory lives. Non-participation is death. Are you alive?
